Culture
How we work, and why.
Rootplains is built on a small set of beliefs. They shape how we source, how we make, and how we treat the people we work with — and they show up in the rhythm of our week.
The week at Rootplains
A rhythm built around care.
Tasting
Every morning starts on the tasting bench — checking temper, flavour and texture against the last batch.
Craft review
The whole team tastes together each week, notes what to refine, and decides what leaves the kitchen.
Grower calls
We speak with our Ghanaian partners regularly — not only about orders, but about the season, the trees, the people.
Time in the field
As often as we can, we go back to the farms. You can't build trust with a forest from a desk.
What we believe
Quality is a habit
Not a target we hit once — a standard we keep, every batch, every week.
Nature sets the pace
We move with the season, not against it. Cacao teaches you patience if you let it.
People before process
Process supports people; it never replaces them. We hire for care, then trust it.
Say what you mean
We keep language plain and claims honest — internally and out. No polish over truth.
It comes back to the roots.
